Crete, the largest island in Greece, is a wonderful summer holiday destination for families with something for everyone: quiet coves and hidden beaches, a rich cultural heritage, imposing mountain ranges and breath-taking gorges. This escorted holiday for solo parents and their children is hosted by one of Single Parents on Holiday’s team members.

Accommodation:

Our 4-star family hotel Iberostar Creta Panorama & Mare is a beach front hotel set in beautiful gardens and located on the northern coast of Crete close to the coastal town of Rethymno with its impressive fortress and cobbled alleyways. It boasts a private beach, several pools, a fitness room, spa, three tennis courts, multi-sports court, playground and kids and teenage clubs. Delicious Greek delicacies as well as Mediterranean and international dishes are served at the hotel’s restaurants and bars.

Things to do in Crete:

There is plenty to see and do on Crete and your Single Parents on Holiday host will help organise activities and excursions for the group, such as a visit of the ancient site of Knossos, a boat trip to see the stunning caves along the coastline, a jeep or quad safari through the surrounding countryside and traditional Cretan villages, and a visit of the harbour and fortress of Rethymno. Our prices:

Adults are £930 with the first child starting at £840 (21 to 28 August 2021). Prices depend on the age of your child, and second children under 16 receive a 40% discount. Programme

The 4-star Iberostar Creta Panorama & Mare hotel is the perfect choice for a beach holiday in Greece with lots of activities on offer to keep adults and children of all ages entertained:

Kids facilities and kids club:

Our hotel has a mini club for 4 to 7 year olds and a maxi club for 8 to 12 year olds, with a kids’ programme including arts and crafts, games and theme days such as a pirate day. For teenagers there is a daily sports programme on offer including archery, beach volleyball, basketball and water sports at the beach. The hotel also offers table tennis, pool tables, archery and crazy golf.

The beach and water sports:

Our hotel is located on the sea front and has direct access to two coves with sandy beaches.There is a water sports centre 300 metres from our hotel offering water skiing, paragliding, jet skiing, banana boat rides, pedalo and canoe hire and speed boat and jet ski excursions along the coast line.

Excursions and activities:

For anyone wishing to explore Crete, we recommend a visit of the ruins of the ancient palace of Knossos, a hike through the impressive Samaria gorge, a speed boat excursion along the coastline to 10 stunning caves, including the unique Lion Cave, a visit of the nearby coastal town of Rethymno with its famous fortress and Venetian harbour and a quad or jeep tour through the surrounding countryside with stops at the beach and Cretan villages inland. More information about additional activities and excursions will be provided by your SPoH host upon arrival.

For all sports lovers our hotel offers a daily sports programme including fitness classes, aqua aerobics, tennis, beach volleyball and more.

This single parent holiday is offered on an all-inclusive basis. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the hotel’s main restaurant, which serves international dishes as well as an Italian buffet for lunch and dinner. In addition, you can have breakfast and Cretan specialities for lunch at the Zorbas Greek Tavern.

Why visit Crete? 

Crete the island:

Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and combines snow-capped mountains, rolling hills covered with olive trees and over 1,000 km of stunning coastline. The island offers a mix of small fishing villages, remote settlements, large tourist resorts and cities such as Heraklion, inhabited continuously for almost 8,000 years and home to trendy cafés, bars, shops, in amongst a vast array of archaeological treasures. Crete attracts holiday makers from all over Europe due to its rich history, pleasant Mediterranean climate, long sandy beaches and the raw natural beauty of its numerous gorges, impressive mountain ranges and breathtaking waterfalls.

Crete – the history:

Crete was the centre of the Minoan civilisation (c. 2,700 – 1,420 B.C.), widely considered the earliest recorded civilisation in Europe. The island has a rich mythology connected with the ancient Greek Gods, and is full of archaeological sites worth a visit, such as the Minoan sites of Knossos and Phaistos  and the archaeological museum in Heraklion, home to the largest collection of Minoan art and artefacts anywhere in the world.

Rethymno – the old town:

Our hotel is a mere 15 minutes from Rethymno (or Rethymnon), a beautiful and authentic medieval Greek town with a rich history. Its 16th century Venetians fortress gives you panoramic views over the the sea and Rethymno. The Venetian harbour is full of colourful fishing boats complete with a honey coloured lighthouse. There are countless waterside tavernas and pretty cafés at the harbour. The town itself is full of beautiful cobbled streets with little shops and restaurants.

For this single parent beach holiday, we will arrange your private taxi transfer from/to HERAKLION AIRPORT and take you straight to your hotel where your host will welcome you. Your transfer is included in our price if you arrive/depart on the advertised holiday dates. Please note that you might share your airport transfers with other single parent families in our group (short waiting times might apply!).

We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
