Latest Coronavirus / COVID-19 travel update

[12/05/2022]

We are no longer updating this page. If you have booked a holiday with us, we will send you any COVID requirements for the country you are due to visit in an email. If you are planning on joining us on an upcoming trip abroad, you can, of course, enquire and we will try our best to advise. Just beware that regulations might change by the time you travel.

Here is to a great summer!

Andrea & Sandra

[18/03/2022 – passenger locator form]

From 18 March, travellers returning to England, Scotland or Wales no longer have to fill in a passenger locator form before they return.

[5/02/2022 – Day 2 testing]

From 11 February, fully vaccinated passengers and their children no longer need to take a pre-departure PCR test before returning to England or a Day 2 test after returning. They do need to complete a passenger locator form online in the 48 hours before they return.

[24/01/2022 – travel restrictions for Austria]

Travel restrictions to Austria have eased. With effect from 24 January 2022, adult travellers from the UK no longer need a pre-departure PCR. They can now enter Austria if they 1. have had their booster, or 2. are double vaccinated and recovered, or 3. are double vaccinated and can show a negative PCR test, or 4. have recovered from COVID and can show a negative PCR test. For more information go to https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/austria/entry-requirements.

Children from 0 to 11 can enter with a fully vaccinated adult. Children between 12 and 15 can obtain a Ninja Pass. For more information, please contact us.

If you need more details or have any questions regarding entry requirements for our ski or summer holidays in Austria, feel free to contact us.

[27/12/2021 – travel restrictions for Austria]

On 22 December, the Austrian government announced that adult travellers from the UK now need a pre-departure PCR as well as a booster jab in order to be allowed to enter Austria without need to quarantine. Children up to the age of 12 travelling with a fully vaccinated parent do not need to be vaccinated, tested or quarantine. Children 12-15 need to be either double-vaccinated or have one vaccine dose plus a PCR test. This is the current situation, so please plan ahead if you are booked or consider booking one of our holidays in Austria.

[8/12/2021 – ski holidays in Austria]

It has been announced today that Austria’s lockdown will end on 13 December. Rate of infection has dropped considerably as a result of recent measures and all hotels and facilities such as lifts and mountain huts are allowed to open as of 13 December. This means that our ski holidays in Austria can go ahead as planned. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to call or email us.

[19/11/2021 – ski holidays in Austria]

After a brief lockdown for the unvaccinated, Austria is going into full lockdown on Monday, 22 November for a maximum of 20 days to stop the spread of COVID-19 attributed to the high number of unvaccinated Austrians. Austria has also made it a legal requirement to have the COVID-19 vaccine from 1 February 2022. These measures will help greatly to ensure that our ski holidays in Austria can go ahead as planned. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to call or email us.

[02/10/2021 – our October holidays]

All our October holidays are going ahead! And you can now save up to £100 on your October half term holiday in South Devon (22-29 Oct): Pay only £690 for 1 adult and 1 child, £840 for one adult and 2 children, or £990 for a family of 4 for at our beautifully renovated farmhouse on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, not far from the South Devon coast.

Alternatively, if you are fully vaccinated (unvaccinated kids can travel with vaccinated parents), you can join us on our single parent ski holiday (24-30 Oct) at the Hintertux glacier or our singles ski trip (30 Oct to 4 Nov). Fully vaccinated adults also no longer need to fill in a pre-travel clearance form. 12 to 17 year olds need to take a pre-departure test before entry but do not need to quarantine on arrival if they are travelling with a parent who is fully vaccinated. Minors under 12 do not need to take a test or quarantine if the parent they are travelling with is fully vaccinated.

[30/8/2021 – October ski holidays]

Some rare good news! Travel restrictions for Austria were lifted a couple of weeks ago, so our glacier ski holidays in October are set to go ahead: Entry to Austria is now possible if you carry proof that you are fully vaccinated, s. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/austria/entry-requirements. You also need to complete a pre-travel clearance form not more than 72 hours before entry to Austria. The same rules apply to children. As Austria is on the green list for England, green list rules apply on your return. We only have a few places left on our single parent ski holiday with kids (24 to 30 October) and our singles ski trip (30 Oct to 4 Nov), so book now if you wish to join!

[10/8/2021 – summer holidays]

Sadly we had to cancel our farm holiday in Italy this August due to the ongoing quarantine requirement on arrival. We have added the farm holiday in Italy to our May and summer 2022 programme, so anyone who missed out can re-book straight onto one of those 3 dates.

Our single parent holiday in Croatia (green list) is going ahead as planned but the hotel is fully booked, so apologies to anyone who tried to make a last minute booking.

Our Cyprus holiday is running unhosted – a first for us. If you still want to join, please contact us but note we will stop taking bookings in the next few days.

The summer has been a challenge, to say the least. We tried to remain flexible throughout and find alternative solutions where a holiday could not be run in the usual format due to COVID. Here is to hoping travelling will become easier soon and we can run all of our remaining single parent and solo holidays in 2021 and our full programme in 2022!

Andrea & Sandra x

[2/7/2021 – summer holidays]

Due to the ongoing rise in COVID cases and resulting quarantine requirements, we had to reduce our summer holiday programme to a select few holidays:

Our farm holiday to Italy on 24 July is going ahead, but due to the current quarantine requirement on arrival in Italy (5 days), we can only take travellers from the EU. If you live in Ireland or another EU country and want to join our group, please book asap as the farm now has very limited availability.

We are not hosting our Fuerteventura holiday as most of our single parent families have re-booked due to the quarantine requirement on return. If you do want to join, you can – contact us for a discounted price and we will put you in touch with any other single parents that have booked via us and are at the hotel.

We have good sized groups booked on our single parent holiday in Cyprus and our single parent farm holiday in Italy (both departing on 21 August for 7 nights), so are hopeful that by that time quarantine requirements will look more favourable and the trips can go ahead.

In the meantime, stay stafe!!

Andrea & Sandra x

[22/6/2021 – Italy farm holiday]

Our farm holiday to Italy on 24 July is going ahead! Please book asap if you are interested in joining as we are unable to take last minute bookings.

Quarantine: Irish and other EU citizens won’t have to quarantine on return from Italy. Under current rules, UK citizens do need to quarantine for either 5 or 10 days, depending on the testing package purchased. We are, however, waiting for the government to announce that  fully vaccinated adults will not have to quarantine on return, and are further hoping Italy will make the green list on Thursday, 24th.

As before, there are several unknowns, so understandably many families are hesitant to book a holiday abroad right now. Please bear in mind, however, that we will not be able to take last minute bookings. As we organise group holidays and need minimum numbers, we need to make a decision and close bookings for our remaining holidays asap.

Andrea & Sandra x

[17/5/2021 – traffic light system]

We are continuing to take bookings for holidays abroad and are expecting several of our destinations to make the green list shortly. This would mean no quarantine and a day 2 test on return from your holiday abroad. Once abroad, you may have to show your COVID passport or take a COVID test no more than 72 h before returning. Please note that COVID tests are
inexpensive outside the UK and you get your result whilst you wait.

Some of these details are likely to change in the next two weeks whilst each country reviews its requirements and whilst the European Commission is
working on Digital Green Passes (COVID vaccination passports) to restore freedom of travel. We will publish more precise details for each country we are travelling to as soon as they have become clearer. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to ask!

[13/4/2021 – new UK destinations!]

As most of you know, this is our first year branching out into single parent holidays in the UK. As our Wales break this August is already fully booked, we have now published a midweek stay in the wonderful Peak District from 2 to 6 August. Bookings are already coming in, so if you want to book a staycation this summer, reserve your places now. We are also offering an October half term break in our award-winning cottages in Dartmoor from 22 to 29 October.

We will keep you posted regarding holidays abroad this summer. For those who want to book now, holiday deposits are fully transferrable and we won’t be asking for balance payments until we have certainty that we can travel.

Until then keep safe,

Sandra and Andrea

[23/2/2021 – travel news!]

So, what we all long expected, has come true: No travel abroad from the UK until 17 May 2021. We had been so hopeful that at least our single parent ski holiday this Easter might go ahead! We have already informed all families booked on this trip and hope our two glacier ski breaks in October will be consolation for those singles and single parents who have missed out on skiing in 2020 and 2021. In the meantime, we have agreed dates for two 2022 single parent ski trips at Easter for the week of 2 and the week of 9 April 2022!

On another positive note, we are now taking bookings for May half term and summer 2021! Don’t hesitate to secure your places. All deposits are fully transferrable, should travel be disrupted due to COVID.

If you have any questions on any of our sun or ski holidays, or an existing booking, do get in touch.

All the best,

Sandra and Andrea

[13/2/2021 – more ski news!]

Good news: For anyone who is keen to get back on the slopes in 2021, we have now published two October ski holidays to the beautiful Hintertux glacier: Choose between a ski holiday with kids in the October half term
(24 to 30 Oct 2021) and a 5-day ski trip for singles and solo travellers (
30 Oct to 4 Nov 2021).  Of course, we are still very much hoping that travel restrictions will be lifted by Easter, but we like to plan ahead!

Keep safe and healthy!

Sandra and Andrea

[5/2/2021 – ski news]

Sadly, we have now also had to postpone our solo ski trip to Schladming in March. This was due to cancelled flights. The good news is that we have already agreed new dates at the same price for next year s. solo skiing Scladming (12 March 2022).

On a positive note, we are in the process of publishing a solo ski trip (30 Oct to 4 Nov 2021) and a single parent ski trip (24 to 20 October 2021) to the beautiful Hintertux glacier – the only glacier in Austria where you can ski all year round! Our fabulous 4-star hotel is directly on the piste.

In the meantime, we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed for our single parent ski holiday in Obertauern at Easter!!

Until then, keep safe and healthy!

Sandra and Andrea

[12/1/2021 – ski news]

Sad news again for our skiers: Due to new lockdowns in the UK and Austria, we have now postponed our February half term ski trip to February half term 2022. Dates are already agreed, prices will be updated in the next few weeks – and will hopefully remain the same.

Sadly, we also had to postpone our solo ski trip to Mayrhofen for a second time – this time to 2022. Dates and prices will be confirmed on our website shortly.  As usual, we have already informed everyone booked on these trips.

All we can do now is keep our fingers and toes crossed that the vaccination programme will pick up pace and COVID figures will drop enabling us all to travel and ski again. We are certainly hoping for the best for our solo ski trip in March and our single parent ski trip in April.

Sandra and Andrea

[22/12/2020 – ski news]

Following the recent developments in Europe, we have postponed our 5-day solo ski trip to Mayrhofen  due to depart on 30 January to the 27th of  February.  We have informed everyone booked or interested in this trip, and are hoping to have more positive news for our skiers in January! In the meantime, we wish everyone a peaceful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!

Sandra and Andrea

[30/11/2020 – ski news]

Following announcements by the English government regarding post lockdown measures across England, we had to take the sad decision to cancel our single parent ski trip to Kitzbühel over New Year’s Eve. The 5-day ski break, which was due to depart on 28 December 2020, has been postponed to 28 December 2021. Those booked on this holiday have been informed and re-booked onto other ski trips. For anyone who was interested in joining this year and is considering coming next year, check out the new dates here: Kitzbühel ski trip over New Year.

In view of the latest vaccine news and lockdown measures in Europe, we remain positive about the 2021 ski season. Vaccinations are due to start in Austria beginning of January where the R factor is below 1. If you are interested in booking onto one of our Austria ski holidays, check out our 2021 ski programme or our blog posts for the latest ski news.

Thank you for your continued support!

[5/11/2020]

The new lockdown in England has yet again put travel on hold for the majority of our customers. If you are booked on one of our ski holidays or are looking to travel with us this winter, please rest assured that we are closely monitoring travel restrictions. We expect that the UK government will make an announcement regarding the end of lockdown and possible travel corridors around the end of November. We will then, in the first instance, contact everyone booked or ready to book our single parent holiday to Kitzbühel at the end of December.

In the meantime, we are as much in limbo as our single parent families and singles are. Please feel free to contact us any time if you want to discuss a booking. Thank you for your understanding!

[14/09/2020]

Due to ongoing travel restrictions, we are no longer offering any singles or single parent holidays this October. Instead, we are busy preparing for the new ski season and adding UK holidays to our 2021 holiday programme. Our Dartmoor National Park and North Wales trips are already online with more UK breaks to follow.

Regarding the 2021 ski season, please note that Austria has announced strict safety measures to ensure a successful ski season: Skiers are required to wear face masks or balaclavas in lifts and lift buildings, après-ski bars will operate only with outdoor seating and social distancing and tourism employees will be tested weekly and must wear face masks and gloves when serving food and drinks. Naturally, hotel rooms, common areas, lifts, etc. must be disinfected regularly.

Austria allows UK residents to enter without testing or self-isolation and since quarantine on arrival has never been a requirement, this is not something we anticipate. For current and detailed travel advice for Austria click here.

[30/07/2020]

Please note that we now only have availability on the following single parent holidays this summer:

We also still have availability this autumn:

We hope to see you all again soon, if not in 2020, then in 2021!

Latest Coronavirus / COVID-19 travel update

[18/07/2020]

A small update: We are sorry that we are unable to go ahead with our Cyprus holiday on 22 August due to the continuing travel restrictions imposed by the Cypriot government. All guests booked on this trip have been informed and offered the option to re-book or been issued credit vouchers.

On a positive note, we are happy that our single parent holiday to Crete on 22 August can go ahead! It is no longer necessary for anyone travelling from the UK to quarantine on arrival in Greece, and our hotel ensures us that plenty of flights from the UK have landed without any problems.

So, if you want a last minute holiday abroad, you can choose from the following single parent family holidays:

COVID-19 safety measures: Please note that our hotels have strict health and safety measures in place to protect staff and customers. If you have any questions as to which facilities and services may be affected on your holiday, please contact us

With our best wishes,

the Single Parents on Holiday team

[06/07/2020]

We are very excited that residents in England have finally been given the go ahead to travel to multiple destinations in Europe without need to self-isolate upon return. This means, our single parent holidays to Croatia (15 August) and Italy (22 August) can go ahead. We continue to closely monitor travel updates, in particular, to Greece, including Crete and Cyprus, and are expecting an update for these destinations before, or latest by, 15 July.

COVID-19 safety measures: Please note that our hotels have put strict health and safety measures in place to protect staff and customers. If you have any questions as to which facilities and services may be affected, please contact us. Please note that any COVID-19 safety measures are subject to government regulations and can change at any time.

With our best wishes,

the Single Parents on Holiday team

[25/06/2020]

Regrettably, we now also had to cancel our single parent holidays departing 25 July, 1 August and 8 August. All customers have been informed and new 2020/21 dates have already been published for these holidays allowing customers to re-book if they wish. Our Fuerteventura holiday, which was due to depart on 1 August, is now taking place in the October half term (24-31/10), and any single parents whose summer holiday has been cancelled can transfer to that holiday.

We are very much hoping that our single parent holidays to Magredi, Croatia, Crete and Cyprus later on in August 2020 can go ahead. To this end, we continue to closely monitor travel updates, in particular air corridor negotiations. We will be in touch with anyone who has booked or enquired about a single parent holiday for this summer, as soon as we know more.

With our best wishes,

the Single Parents on Holiday team

[15/05/2020]

Sadly there is much uncertainty around travel this summer.  We are closely monitoring the situation both in the UK and in our summer destinations and are hoping that travel restrictions for UK holiday makers will be lifted and that we will be able to run some of our 2020 single parent holidays.

Naturally, should travel restrictions prevent our single parent holidays from going ahead, we will contact you as soon as we know, to offer you alternatives such as transferring your deposit payment to a later date in 2020 or 2021.

In the meantime, we wish all our customers well. Remember if you have the lock down blues, we are here to help:

The Single Parents on Holiday team

[18/03/2020]

We would like to reassure all our customers that we are continuing to closely monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) around the world.

We are in contact with all our single parent families and solo travellers who have been affected by the closure of hotel and ski resorts in Austria and/or the FCO’s updated travel advice for Austria. If anyone is waiting for a reply from us, please bear with us for just a few days, as we are currently dealing with a high volume of emails, as is everyone else. This is a challenging time for the travel industry, but we will get through this together and come out stronger the other end.

Stay healthy and in good spirits!
