Single Parent Ski Holiday in Austria

Our superior 4-star family hotel, the Jägerwirt in the small ski region Turrach in Austria, is what’s known as a Kinderhotel – a family hotel designed with the needs of the young ones in mind at all times – located on the southern banks of a beautiful Alpine lake and surrounded by pine forests. With one lift within a short walking distance of our hotel and the nursery slope and ski hire shop on the other side of the lake, you are never far from the slopes.

Being a Kinderhotel, the hotel is very child-friendly and offers a kids club that’s open 10 hours a day, every day. The hotel’s rooms are spacious and lovingly furnished in traditional Alpine style and come with an ensuite bathroom with bathrobes and hairdryer, radio, TV, telephone, minibar and safe deposit box. Most rooms have a balcony and overlook the majestic waters of Lake Turrach itself.

Our hotel has superior facilities, including an indoor pool complete with paddling pool and slide for the kids, a heated outdoor pool, modern fitness room and large spa area with whirlpool, infrared cabin, Finnish and herbal saunas, steam room and solarium. Your kids will never forgive you if you don’t let them onto the giant slide spiralling down the hotel staircase from the kids club on the third floor. The kids club is open 7 days a week to children from the age of 2, and has its own climbing wall and numerous games and toys to choose from. There’s a games area in the basement for older children with table football, a pool table and computer games, as well as table tennis and a flat screen TV for watching the latest blockbusters.

Programme

Skiing/Snowboarding: Our hotel is just 5 minutes’ walk from several lifts, as well as the ski school, ski hire shop and traditional huts where you can meet up for lunch or a glass of mulled wine after a day on the slopes. Austria offers some of the best skiing in the world, and its ski schools are renowned for their qualified instructors with the sporting and people skills necessary to teach your children how to really enjoy winter sports. And if your little ones are still a bit too young or don’t want to ski just yet, then they will be looked after by professional childminders in the hotel’s own kids club which takes children from the age of 2.

Other activities on offer: You don’t have to be a skier or snowboarder to enjoy a winter holiday! There are many other winter sports activities on offer in Turrach, including the Nocky Flitzer toboggan run, snow shoe hiking and cross country skiing.

We will also be organising a traditional Alpine raclette meal in a nearby chalet one evening. There’ll also be live music at the hotel and night skiing on a floodlit piste. And for any of you who still have the energy after all that, there’s even a modern fitness room at the hotel where you can work out.

About Turrach

Turrach is situated in the Nock Mountains in the western section of the Gurktaler Alps. Some 1,800 metres above sea level, the village is on an Alpine pass straddling the border between the Austrian provinces of Styria and Carinthia. Due to its height and location, the region was only settled in the 17th century, when mining started below the Turracher Höhe. Towns and villages did not start developing until tourism emerged in the second half of the 20th century. Today Turrach is a popular family resort, with 13 lifts and 38 km of pistes suited for family skiing.

Turrach is an area of outstanding natural beauty, the focal point of which is Lake Turrach. Our hotel is located directly beside the lake, and enjoys spectacular views both of the waters and the surrounding mountains. Huge efforts are being made to maintain the vast diversity of the local flora and fauna of the Turracher Höhe by setting up landscape conservation areas and ensuring tourism areas and facilities are not allowed to encroach upon the Alpine habitat.

At Single Parents on Holiday, we do not restrict you to fly from a particular UK airport – we let you choose your most convenient departure point. This means you can travel from any airport in the UK, Ireland or anywhere else in the world.

We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
