Lanzarote, the most easterly of the Canary Islands, is situated just 79 km off the coast of Africa. The island’s volcanic origin gives Lanzarote unique features such as the longest volcanic tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel. Beautiful beaches and a sunny dry climate with a maximum temperature of 30°C in August make Lanzarote a very attractive holiday destination for our single parent families.

We will be staying in Playa Blanca, once a small fishing village near the most southerly tip of Lanzarote. Now it is a popular family resort with a beautiful new promenade and marina, and much has been done to preserve some of its traditional character amongst the modern developments.

The Hotel and Resort:

Our single parents and their children will be staying at our family friendly 4-star hotel, Iberostar Papagayo, located directly on the seafront of the Playa de las Coloradas bay with a heavenly view of the islands of Los Lobos and Fuerteventura. The hotel is close to the white sandy beaches of Playa Blanca. For your convenience, the hotel offers a shuttle service to Playa Dorada 4 times per day or you can enjoy a leisurely stroll on the promenade to reach the beaches.

In the grounds of the hotel is a beautiful pool landscape with family and children’s pools, a Jacuzzi, pool bar and a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols. We have chosen this hotel for its very high standard and family atmosphere so that you can unwind and enjoy quality time with your children and the other parents.

Rooms are fully fitted with en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, fridge, safe, hair dryer and private balcony or terrace.

Sports, Kids Club and Entertainment:

The mini and maxi club offer 4 to 12 year olds daily activities such as organized play, kids shows, disco evenings, bingo and much more. There is also a children’s playground in the gardens surrounding the hotel as well as a pool table, large games room and table tennis which both younger and older children enjoy.

Whilst some of our single parents enjoy working out in the hotel's fitness room, others may enjoy playing tennis or squash, taking part in the aerobics or aqua aerobics lessons or hiring a mountain bike to explore the island further.

For those who enjoy a bit of pampering there is a modern spa and health centre which offers a range of massages and beauty treatments. The wellness area includes a hamman, whirlpools, Finnish sauna, steam room and offers our single parents an opportunity to relax whilst their little ones are entertained in the kids club.

In the evenings, our single parent families have dinner together as a group in the hotel restaurant and chill out in the bar afterwards, whilst their kids enjoy each other’s company during and after meals allowing their parents to relax. Our hotel offers an entertainment programme in the evenings that will include daily shows, concerts and discos for the children.

Excursions:

If you are keen to explore the island, our Single Parents on Holiday host will be on hand to organize the excursions for our group. These may include:

• Trip on a glass bottom boat from the nearby Marina Rubicon to the famous untouched Papagayo Beaches which have been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.
• Teguise Market on Sunday: every Sunday morning the old capital of Lanzarote transforms itself into a popular street market with folk groups regularly performing in the town’s central square. Great for souvenir shopping and strolling through the quaint little art galleries and arts and crafts shops.
• Submarine Safari: Enjoy the ’Underwater Safari of a Lifetime‘ in the yellow submarine which will take you 30 metres below the unexplored waters of Lanzarote. Look out for eerie shipwrecks resting on the seabed and enjoy the feeding frenzy when the professional diver feeds the marine life in front of each viewport
• Volcanic Route and Fire Mountains: Visit the Timanfaya National Park in the south west of the island with its impressive lunar landscape. Enjoy a camel ride along the craters of the volcano and a demonstration of water being poured down a number of holes in the ground, only for it to burst back up again in a geyser-like spout a few seconds later.
• Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park: Beautiful gardens with waterfalls and animal park with a variety of exotic birds and animals such as rare white tigers, pumas, buffaloes and Nile crocodiles. There are spectacular daily shows on offer, such as the bird of prey show, parrot show and sea lions show.
